A Sting In The Tail.

Hello everyone, how are you today? Bob has had another bad day, I think I'm just going to stay in bed tomorrow but the way things are going at the moment the bed will probably collapse or something. I woke this morning to pouring rain but I still take the dogs out because they don't seem to mind but because it was raining I put on my woolly hat that had been hangin' in the porch since the last time it was raining which is quite a while now. All of a sudden I started to feel something sharp keep sticking in my head, so eventually I took of my hat only to discover a wasp in it, the darn thing had stung me in the head, it felt like I'd been hit in the head with an axe. I tell you what though, it doesn't half wake you up in a morning!! I'm not sure why but I looked inside the hat just to be sure there were no more and good thing I did too cos there were four more wasps inside, it was really creepy. So they joined their mate on the wooden dogfood box in the porch to await execution. I don't like killing things but boy did I savour that moment!

Five squished wasps.

I found this tonight when I was looking through some things, its a news paper cutting from 1962, its of the first house that I ever lived in, to see the article you will need to click on it, if that doesn't work let me know and I will do it so you can read the writing. I don't want to go to the trouble of copying it out if you can read it okay without.
With it being wet most of the day I've spent it messing around in the greenhouse and potting shed. I made another Sempervivum ball so that I have one for each side of the door in winter. Of course I stayed behind after work and did this.
To answer your question Elaine, yes for sure I do intend posting here as often as possible, this is my blog now and it will be better than the old one.
Well you know what they say Merle, small things amuse small minds!
Yes Jeanette I did get your message thanks, and thanks too for everyone elses.
Kimmie, Can you tell me what part of Scotland Uncle Fred comes from as I've been to many places in Scotland which is my most fav place to visit after the Peak District.
Best Wishes,
Bob.

The article opened fine for me.
Was the house is good repair when you lived there? Was your father a worker on the farm?
I just realized these questions reveal the fact that I dont have a clue how old you are. Maybe you were that baby John in 1962! (Rob, John), well I guess no, maybe this will get you to give us some more info.

Ugh! The wasps in your hat story is horrible. That surely would be a most scary surprise. Glad you squashed the darn things.
Haven't read the house arcticle yet but plan to next.
Take care and have a great day!

I can stand most bugs but really hate wasps! We had loads of rain too but lovely and warm and sunny this afternoon. I remember admiring you Sempervivum ball...must have a go at one myself.

Hi Bob, wasn't sure whether to answer your question regarding the cranberry fields on my blog or yours.
Cranberries are grown in fields that can be flooded when it is harvest time. A tracter equipped with large paddles to beat the berry off the plant, drives through the rows. The cranberries float to the top, and are harvested off the water.

Hi Bob

What a shock to find your other blog ended! So sorry to hear you had to do that. But I`m glad you are going to keep this one :)
What a nasty surprise to have those wasps in your hat! They`re bad here this year. The place you`re going to stay in Scotland looks nice and I bet the dogs are excited too LOL

Hi Bob...

Oh, I will have to ask him...I know he worked in a mission called Crossbasket Castle-outside of Glasgow.
My husband thinks prior to that, he lived somewhere in that area...when he comes I will ask him...he is due next week.

(need to tidy up the room that we call "Uncle Fred' Room"...funny as he only stays one week a year, it is the spare bedroom...but it has been Christened with his name ;-) Dear, dear man!

Sorry about the wasp sting...ouch!
