I prefer getting onto Kinder from the north side, up Blackden Brook off the Snake Road. It's still a pull but not so crowded so I can quietly gasp for breath without embarassing myself. Once on top there's only a small neck of peat groughs before you're looking down into the Vale of Edale. And you can always amuse yourself on the way down Blackden Brook by crossing the stream at the wrong point, losing your footing crossing it later and sitting down four-square in it.
